Presidentvalet i USA påverkar demokratin i världen
I Sverige borde vi lära av bland andra USA och införa personval hela vägen kopplat till de viktigaste politiska uppdragen. Personer som nomineras av olika partier. Det är mycket bättre för att de högsta politiska ledarna ska ha folkets mandat och tydliga uppdrag att leda. Och ett personligt ansvar att försöka genomföra vallöften.
Valet i USA är en rysare. Helt klart är nu att Trump lätt hade vunnit om inte Coronapandemin inträffat. Tyvärr är han en dålig president för Europa och Sverige. ”America first” har självklart alla presidenter i fokus. ExpressenS ledare fick inte den storseger de hoppades på för Biden. En stor del av USAs väljare är för Trump och mot etablissemanget. Sverige lyfts ofta fram av Trump som misslyckat. Trots det är vi ofta okritiska USA älskare. USA är fortsatt djupt splittrat och den demokratiska världen fortsätter att försvagas. Oavsett vem som vinner. Det är mycket olyckligt.

Larry Diamond, skriver mycket klokt i New-York times nyligen. Vi måste förstå att vi i västvärlden har stora behov av att reformera våra demokratiska system. Om vi anser att demokratin är den bästa styrformen av ett samhälle och för att vi bättre ska kunna matcha globala krafter som inte har höga demokratiska ambitioner.
